Japanese cast iron wok, IWACHU NANBUTEKKI, black, made in Japan
The wok (from Cantonese: wok; mandarin [hanyu pinyin]: guō; traditional Chinese: 鍋; simplified Chinese: 锅) is a cooking utensil from the Far East.
It appears as a half-sphere, made of metal or ceramic, provided with two handles or sometimes with a handle. Cooking is favored by the spherical shape of the cookware which requires very little fat. The device is kept in contact with the heat source by a small removable conical base.
We can use the wok to:
    - fry or sauté food (Chinese cuisine), like a pan but faster; the size of the wok allows you to cook all food at the same time;
    - reheat or steam food by adding a removable grid at mid-height.

In Japan, the wok is called a Chukanabe.

During the first use please clean with water, then pour cooking oil and heat to remove the odor and create a film of fat on the object. Untreated cast iron is made from 100% iron, which means that it will rust if not treated properly. It is therefore important to lubricate it regularly.
