Description

japanese green fan 22cm for man in paper and bamboo, TAKE, bamboo
In ancient Japan, hand fans were greatly influenced by Chinese fans. The first visual representation of fans in Japan dates back to the 6th century AD. The folding fan was invented in Japan, with a date ranging from the 6th to the 9th century. The inventor would have been inspired by the wings of bats. The fan is a fundamental accessory in Japanese Noh or Kabuki theater, in Rakugo narrative art, in traditional dance, as well as in certain martial arts.
There are therefore also two kinds of fans, the sensu (扇子) or simply ôgi (扇) which folds and the uchiwa (団 扇) made of round bamboo and which does not fold.
