One of the staples of Japanese cuisine is noodles, like rice. There are several kinds such as soba, udon, or somen which include traditional Japanese noodles, and ramen or yakisoba which have been influenced by Chinese culture.

Yakisoba (literally cooked soba noodles) are not made with soba noodles but made with wheat. These noodles traditionally originating in China are most often sautéed with vegetables and meat and then coated with a thick, slightly sweet sauce, Yakisoba sauce.
